I grew up at the beach in Australia and am now living with my American husband (JD) in Southern California.

We met on vacation in New Zealand and have always loved to travel. Having kids has slowed us down.... just a little.

Both kids have been back to Australia multiple times and a couple of cruises each and always want to know when we are going to the hotel again.... this is our story.

I am in the process of retiring this blog. Come join me at Aussie Rebecca

How did he Propose?

I decided to do a post about how my husband proposed because it was very romantic.

We knew after my first visit to the US that we were going to get married, and thanks to one of our friends I even knew the wedding date.... it slipped out. So I was just waiting for the proposal, but I had no idea when it would be.

My next trip over was in March. After close to 15 hrs on a plane I was tired and all I wanted to do was take a shower but we had to go meet a friend at Disneyland because she could only meet us today. She was from China and it seemed feasible that this would be the only day our schedules would line up. So I got picked up at the airport in my capris a t-shirt and a pair of sneakers. We got to Disneyland and we were going to meet her in front of the castle. Well JD got really nervous and seemed a little worried I got up to watch the swans whilst he was talking to the Disney photographer. Of course I didn't understand why at the time.

Very shortly afterwards, JD got down on bent knee in front of the castle and pulled a glass slipper out of his shirt sleeve with a diamond ring inside and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes. As it turned out the friend from China was just a ploy to get me to Disneyland...
And we have photos of the proposal because the Disney photographer took them for us, and even took a few with our camera...

How romantic! He put so much thought into it.

My hubby proposed on Terrigal Beach (just Nth of Sydney), and it only seems like a few months ago, but our 10yr anniversary is coming up soon. :)

Hi Jane,
Yeah he did. He really wanted to dress up as a prince and ride a horse but Disney wouldn't allow the costume or the horse....

Time does fly. It's been 8 years already since he proposed.

Congratulations on your 10yr anniversary, Terrigal Beach is a great place for a proposal.
